Matthew Chilakos
Co-chairperson of the Board
Matt is currently an Agricultural Services Officer with Rocky View County, and is the co-Chair of the NCWP. He has worked in several roles in the environmental planning field including invasive species monitoring in BC, leading backcountry bioengineering projects with Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, and conducting erosion & sediment control inspections in Southern Alberta.
Clint Goodman
Co-chairperson of the Board
Clint is the Senior Corporate Environmental Specialist with the City of Airdrie, and co-Chair of the Nose Creek Watershed Partnership (NCWP). He supports the City with various environmental projects and program initiatives, watershed and land use planning, regulatory liaising, and offers a broad set of technical review and advice for the organization. In addition to the NCWP, Clint represents the City of Airdrie on various regional working groups, committees and technical advisory groups with organizations including the Calgary Metropolitan Regional Board, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, Alberta Low Impact Development Partnership, and Calgary Regional Airshed Zone. An accredited Professional Agrologist and designated Environment Professional, Clint has 15+ years environmental career experience working in academia, for NGOs, in the energy industry and the municipal sector. Above all, Clint is motivated and passionate about progressive environmental science, sustainable development, and sound watershed management.
Joe Holstien
Board Member
Joe is the Water/Wastewater Operations Foreman with the Town of Crossfield and has been with the Town for 20 years. Joe is a Water Distribution Level II , Wastewater Collection II, and Wastewater treatment Level I, Certified operator and has been a NCWP Board member since 2022. Joe has a passion for lagoon wastewater treatment. He has identified innovative ways to improve the quality of the Town of Crossfield’s wastewater effluent, that has resulted in ability of the Town to explore alternative uses including irrigation of farmland, irrigation at the local golf course, and other industrial uses. Joe continues to support the NCWP’s water monitoring efforts in support of the Nose Creek Model Project.
James Jorgensen
Board member
James is currently an Environmental Specialist with the Calgary Airport Authority. His past 25+ years of experience includes working in a leadership role with the compliance department for the Alberta Ministry of Environment and previously performs various environmental roles with the City of Calgary.
Phil McMechan
Board Member
Phil is a watershed engineer at The City of Calgary who brings over 20 years of experience in hydrography, hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, and bioengineering to his role as Calgary’s representative on the board of the Nose Creek Watershed Partnership. Phil’s role at The City also includes drought preparedness and response, as well as long term water security planning. Phil’s goal at the NCWP is to protect riparian function and improve water quality in Nose Creek to help build and maintain a climate resilient watershed.
Mike Murray
Executive Director of the Bow River Basin Council
Mike is the Executive Director for the Bow River Basin Council and has been working with the Nose Creek Watershed Partnership for over 20 years. Mike as enthusiast for cycling and enjoying the outdoors really appreciates the Nose Creek for its bike pathways and areas of true natural beauty. Mike hopes that we can all work together to preserve this important resource for future generations and their benefit.
Sandi Riemersma
Project Manager for the Nose Creek Partnership
Sandi has more than 25 years experience working in the field of watershed management and planning, environmental monitoring and assessment, and stakeholder engagement. Sandi has worked with the NCWP since about 2005, filling various roles as a contracted consultant, including watershed planning, water monitoring, project coordination, and her current role as Project Manager for the Nose Creek Model Project. Sandi is a bridge builder, and aims to balance cultural, environmental and economic values in her watershed work.
