The Nose Creek Watershed Partnership
Albertans live with some of the cleanest water resources in the world. Maintaining and improving these abundant natural resources requires the vigilant efforts of all whose actions affect local watersheds. In particular, the Nose Creek Watershed has come under increasing pressure over the past few years as a variety of activities, such as agriculture and urban development, in surrounding areas have become more intense. Because our political boundaries do not follow the watershed boundaries we are aware that intermunicipal cooperation is essential for the long-term protection and enhancement of the watershed. We also believe that taking responsible action today will help prevent serious problems in the future.
The goal of the Nose Creek Watershed Partnership is: "To protect the riparian areas and to help improve and restore water quality in Nose Creek to its natural levels".
All the partners involved are determined to rise above the differing obstacles affecting water quality and conservation and work together to achieve these important objectives. Our improvement strategy involves: learning about the quality of water throughout the watershed, identifying sources of contamination and initiating clean-up efforts and stewardship measures with all stakeholders, including individuals and community groups residing within the watershed.
